CAMPUS NEWS - 2004

A Get-Together of the Alumni was organized at the Institute on the 22nd September 2004. It was a colourful evening which began with our students singing the song ‘PURANI JEANS’ which revived the college memories.
It was followed by the Principal’s address and then a cultural programme organized by the
Students.

A Theme Buffet was organized by the students of the 3rd Year on the 20th October
2004.The theme being ‘Dine-The Oriental Way’-A true mystical experience.
Among the attractions were the beautiful décor, Fashion show and the delicious food. The stir-fry counter offering a variety of ingredients cooked in front of the guest along with his/her choice of dips.

The Semi-Final round of the quiz organized by the
IHMES-International Hotel School, the Agarwal Overseas Education Services on the 29th October 2004 at the Institute. 5 colleges
from Goa participated – IIAS(Miramar),Ann Institute(Porvorim),
ACE (DonaPaula), Guardian, Angel(Sanvordem) and IHM-GOA(Porvorim). Our college represented by Alexander Da Costa, Anthony Machado & Gaurav Mahakal (All students of the 3rd Year) secured the First place.
They will now represent IHM-GOA at the Finals to be held in Mumbai on 17th February
2005.

An All Goa Elocution Competition was held on the occasion of ‘WORLD TOURISM
DAY’ Suraj Shenai a 3rd year student of our Institute secured the 2nd place.

The International Film Festival of India (IFFI-2004) was held for the first time in
Goa.IHM- GOA students got an opportunity to showcase their talents by way of CARVING DISPLAY organized on 1st December 2004

The Valedictory function was held on the 24th March ’04 in the Training Restaurant. Mr. Helmut Meckelburt, Area Director of Taj Group of Hotels, Goa/General Manager, Taj Exotica, Goa was the guest of honour.
Mr. Anant Tawde of the 3rd year B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel
Administration was judged the ‘Best student of the year’.

The All India ‘Agarwal’s Quiz competition’ Was held in Mumbai on the 29th January 2004. IHM Goa represented by Viraj Jayakar (3rd Year), Alexander Da Costa and Sangeet Kundachari (2nd Year), secured the 3rd place.

A Charity Christmas Lunch for 75 Orphans from ‘El – Shaddai’ charitable Trust, Panaji, was organized in December 2003. The Children enjoyed the hospitality of students; who organized a cultural programme for them. They were also presented with little gifts from Santa.

The Diploma in Hotel Management Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition has now been upgraded to a B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration since the year 2003-04. This is by an M.O.U between the
I.G.N.O.U. (Indira Gandhi National Open University) and the National council of Hotel Management, Catering Technology and Applied Nutrition.
