‘Attitudes’ an inter-collegiate competition was organized on 14^th December 2006 by IHM-Goa at the Institute premises in association with ‘Freedom Foundation’; and NGO that works towards AIDS awareness.

Don Bosco college BBA section won the 1^st place.

‘Trendsetters’ an intercollegiate dance and fashion show competition was organized by IIAS Institute of Hotel Management  on 6^th December 2006.

IHM Goa won 2^nd prize for the dance competition. Miss Sneha Nikte, student of  the third year was judged as ‘ Miss Trendsetter’.

‘Explosion’  an intercollegiate dance competition was held on 23^rd and 24^th November 2006 y Don Bosco higher secondary, Panaji. The Institute won the first prize overall.

The Norwegian Salmon challenge was held at  IHM- Mumbai on 31^st October 2006.

The event was a joint effort of the Norwegian Seafood export council and IHM Mumbai and was organized by the ‘Royal Norwegian Embassy, Delhi’.

The contest was held to promote the Norwegian Salmon and the challenge was to cook the Salmon main course with an authentic Indian touch.

The final winners were selected by a jury headed by Chef Harald Osa as the chairperson, Chef Gev Desai, Corporate  chef from ITC Welcome group of hotels, Chef Anish Padgaonkar from Hyatt group and Chef Jitendra Singh from Taj group of hotels.

Anirudha Deshpande, student of 3^rd year BSc in H& HA won the 3^rd place. Nikhil Agnihotri student of 3^rd year also made it to the final eight.

 This event was organized  by the  ‘Banarsidas Chandiwala Institute of Hotel Management and Catering technology’ , New Delhi on the 10^th, 11^th and 12^th October 2006.

A series of competitions were held over the 3 days.

IHM Goa was represented by:

Faye Fernandes and Vaishali Joshi won the  2^nd place for the ‘California Prunes Trophy 2006’.

The Alumni Reunion 2006 was organized on the 21st September .The theme was 'Mexican Nite'.

v     The preliminary round of the AOES (Agarwals overseas education service) quiz was held on the 18th August 2006 .

v     ‘Dahi handi’ was organized to celebrate ‘Janmashtmi’ on the 16th August 2006 .  

v     The Indian tricolour was unfurled on Independence Day 15th August 2006.  

v     A 'Demo cum talk' was conducted for the academic and administrative staff by Mr. More from ‘Health Care Foundation’ about how vegetables can be used as medicine for healthy and blissful life; on the 11th August 2006.

v     Religious day was celebrated at the Institute on the 10th August 2006 . The Principal, faculty and students attended the Holy Koran reading, Puja and Holy Mass.

‘VALEDICTORY FUNCTION ’

The Valedictory function 2006 was held on the 29th March  2006 for the 3rd Year students, F. P. P and F& B students .
Mr. Samir Khanna, Area Director of the Taj Group of hotels, Goa was the Chief guest.
It  began with the Welcome address by the Principal   Mr.Roque D'cruz.
Mr. Saurabh Sakhalkar was adjudged the best outgoing 'Student of the year'. Students were awarded prizes for the various competitions held in the Institute during the academic year 2005 - 06.

‘GENESIS 2006 ’

Goa Medical College organised this inter-collegiate event on the 10^th and 11^th March 2006.The Institute won the first place, including the First place for Mr.& Ms. Genesis.

‘GERMAN LANGUAGE COURSE ’

German language course is being conducted at the Institute premises for Tour guides. The course commenced on 30^th January and will be for a duration of 3 months. The course is being offered  free of charge under the Capacity building for service providers programme (C. B. S. P).

‘VEGETARIAN CUISINE’

A vegetarian cooking class was held on 11^th February 2006 for a group of 21 Swedish people; co-ordinated by Chef. Olla Johnson.The guest were welcomed with traditional 'Aarti- Tikka'. They enjoyed cooking and  then relished the delicious Indian vegetarian food prepared by them. The cookery class was conducted by Ms.Lisa Dias and Ms.Gitanjali Verma  assisted by students of 1st year Bsc in H&HA. The service was co-ordinated by Ms.Donna D'Souza and Mr.Pankaj Kumar.

‘COLLESEUM 2006’

This inter-collegiate event  was organised by I C F A I, Porvorim on the 17^th and 18^thFebruary 2006. A number of Management events, Fashion show and dance competition were held. The main event was the title of 'Gladiator' which was won by Rahul Kar of 3^rd year. The Institute  won the 1^st place overall; including 1^st prize for fashion show and dance competition.

‘LEX’

'Lex' was organised by the Salgaonkar College of Law, Miramar at the Kala Academy on the 15^th Feb 2006. The institute participated in the following events - War of DJ's, Group dance competition, Fashion Show, and won the 1st place.

'CHEF COMPETITION’

The XXth All India Students Chef Competition was held at IHM Bhubaneswar from 7^th – 9^th February 2006.
IHM Goa  represented by Sushil Multani, Rakesh Kumar and Jyoti Singh won  1^st place in the Indian round and 3^rd place in the International basket round.
Sushil Multani  won the ' Best Student Chef of the year '  award and Rakesh Kumar won the 1^st prize in vegetable& Fruit carving .

The Agarwal overseas education services quiz competition was held on the 19th January 2006 at Mumbai. In all 30 Institutes participated. I H M - Goa represented by Mr. Harshad Makasare(3rd year), Mr.Varun Bhatnagar (3rd year) and Miss. Tinneilhing Haokip (1st year) ranked 4th place in the final round.

EDUCATIONAL EXCURSION

An educational excursion was organized for the students of 3rd year Bsc in H&HA on the 27th October 2005.The places visited were Montana bakery at Corlim , The Sahakari spice farm at Ponda and The Kingfisher Beer factory, UB at Ponda.

The students of 3rd year organised a Theme buffet 'Mediterranean fiesta '

The guests enjoyed the music played by the college band, ballroom dances and the variety of Mediterranean specialities .
